Oh boy, do I love this movie. Even watching it a second time I find it hard not to just be in tears by the end of it with so much laughter. This movie is what all of those stupid comedies try to be but fail miserable. It actually has a plot (a rather good one) and character development and even a narrator who breaks the fourth wall.
But it is just painfully funny with the situations characters end up in. Most of them I don’t feel I can type on this blog but be assured they are hilarious. It stars Robert Donney Jr as the lead with Val Kilmer helming a gay PI. I don’t know what else I can say? Everything is top notch in the movie – it plays into all the stereotypes of buddy and noir films while making biting remarks back on the audience. The plot is even somewhat a-typical of a noir film. Usually that would be part of what is funny being that the film follows all the twists and turns to ultimately get back on where you though it should be. It’s almost like Rear Window in that regards – you believe somehow everything will connect in the end but ultimately it was the simplistic answer for part of it at the end. There is even heart in this movie – surprisingly it ends somewhat poignantly trying to almost say this isn’t just a satire. Which I’d tend to agree, that is what is so good about this movie. It tries to defy convention and actually succeeds.
So I very much enjoyed the narration along with the chapter headed intros to each “section” of the movie. If there is any one who doesn’t like this movie I haven’t seen them. I watched it a total of 2 times now and still am in tears laughing at it. That’s a good sign for a movie. It’s one of those rare movies where everything is there. All of it. So don’t miss it.
Verdict: Recommend
(It would have a Highly on there but sadly the language, it is rated R for a reason…)

I’ve seen this one three times now (and finally bought it) and it really does never get old. It reminded me a lot of the Lethal Weapon movies in that there was plenty of action, but also plenty of comedy (most of which was bickering between the two major characters). “Well, there was like an 8% chance…” “Eight!?? Who taught you math?!”
You know that the Director is the guy who wrote Leathal Weapon 1,2,3 & 4. But yes easily one of the best movies ever as just sheer enjoyment.
